About MergeNames

MergeNames is the smartest name blending tool on the web. We built it because existing name combiners were frustratingly basic — they just chopped names in half and glued the pieces together, producing unpronounceable gibberish.

Our Approach

We developed a phonetic blending engine that actually understands how names sound. Instead of splitting at arbitrary midpoints, our algorithm finds natural vowel boundaries — the places where syllables naturally break. This means every blend is pronounceable and sounds like it could be a real name.

Every result is scored on four dimensions: balanced contribution from both names, pronounceability (no awkward consonant clusters), appropriate length, and uniqueness from the original inputs. The top-scoring results are highlighted as “Top Picks” so you can quickly find the best options.

Privacy First

All name blending happens entirely in your browser. We never transmit, store, or log the names you enter. Your favorites are saved locally on your device using localStorage — not on our servers. We believe naming is personal, and your data should stay that way.
